Бързи факти: Тази крепост поема основния удар още в първите минути на Великата отечествена война, а нейните защитници без вода и храна се държат близо месец. Стените и до днес са изпъстрени със следи от куршуми, а един от входовете, Холмската порта, блести с полирани от въглища тухли.
Акценти: Под крепостта се простира мрежа от подземни тунели с дължина 8 километра, по които защитниците се придвижвали тайно между бастионите. През 1965 г. крепостта получава званието „Крепост герой“ - само три места в цялата страна носят тази титла.
