Best in the morning, before the wind wakes up, when the water lies completely still and the colors are at their sharpest. Between April and November the sky is often clear, while the summer thunder can close the road.
Budgettips
The park entrance fee is 5,000 CLP per person and is paid at the guard post along the road. You save hundreds of kronor by renting a private 4x4 with a driver or driving yourself instead of booking a group excursion from town.

Insidertips
- Take a spot at the viewpoint below the parking lot first, where the whole double lagoon and the volcanoes fit in one picture.
- Pack warm clothes and a hat in your backpack, the temperature can be below freezing even in the middle of summer.
- Go on a weekday and as early as possible, then you will have the lagoons almost to yourself before the group buses roll in around ten.
- Skip the line at the toilet at the entrance, use the facilities in Toconao before the trip instead.
