Budgettips

Admission is 60 RMB, with half-price tickets for students and seniors aged 60 and above. Jinli Ancient Street is right next door, so you can arrange to visit both on the same day, saving both time and transportation costs. The last Tuesday of each month is a free admission day (advance reservation required).

Hurtige fakta: Templet dækker 37.000 kvadratmeter og huser den såkaldte "tre-skatte-stele" med tekst af premierminister Pei Du fra Tang-dynastiet og kalligrafi af Liu Gongchuo. Over 2.000 gamle cyprestræer omkranser de røde mure og grå tegltage, og et af dem siges at være plantet af Zhuge Liang selv med en alder på over 1.700 år.

Højdepunkter: Under tagskægget i hovedsalen står 47 terrakottafigurer af personer fra De Tre Kongedømmer, hver med et unikt ansigtsudtryk. I regnvejr får glasuren en grønlig glød. Endnu mere specielt er duften af røgelse fra røgelseskrukken blandet med den friske duft af gamle cyprestræer, og hele gården er indhyllet i en følelse af evig stilhed, der strækker sig over tusind år.

After entering through the main gate, head left first to avoid the crowds heading straight for the main hall.
The best spot for photos is along the corridor of the civil and military galleries. The side light around 3 p.m. brings out the texture of the red walls and ancient cypress trees.
No need to spend money on a tour guide. Just scan the QR code at the entrance and rent an electronic audio guide for 10 RMB, which is more than enough.
The "Three Perfections Stele" is in the exhibition hall on the right after entering the gate. Many people rush past and miss it, so be sure to stop and take a look at the inscription.
