It is liveliest between 6 and 10 in the morning, when fishermen bring in fresh catch and bakeries turn out the first batches of breadfruit flatbreads. Sunday mornings are quieter and many vendors offer lower prices.

Insidertips
- Bring your own plastic or cloth bag, vendors do not give out free plastic bags and paper ones cost 50 XPF.
- Look for stall number 47 selling vanilla from Mrs. Moana, she sells it at half the price compared to tourist shops at the port.
- The best photos can be taken at 6:30 AM near the fish hall, when the sun shines through the smoke from the grills.
- On weekends, avoid the main street in front of the market between 10 and 11 in the morning, crowds from cruise ships flow through there.
