The fish market in the morning is an absolute must. We bought fresh sardines and a local grilled them for us right there. Best meal of our whole trip.
Skip the tourist restaurants along the waterfront. Walk into the side streets near the market, look for places packed with Portuguese families eating. We had an incredible cataplana for 12 euros.
Mixed feelings. The weekend market was cool and the people were friendly but our apartment had no AC and it was brutal in July. Bring earplugs too, the roosters start at 5am.
Honestly found it a bit sleepy for my taste. Cute market and the old town is nice but one afternoon felt like enough. Glad I didn't book longer.
Take the early ferry to Culatra island, like the 8am one. You get the beach almost to yourself before the day trippers arrive. Bring snacks though, the cafes there are overpriced.
