Arrive before 9:30 AM from June to August to claim a spot before the midday crowds. Late afternoon from 4 PM onward offers golden light and cooler sea breezes.

Budgettips

Public beach access is completely free, but paid umbrellas and loungers run about 15-20 euros per set. Pack your own snacks and water from the nearby supermarket in Mondello village to avoid pricey beachfront kiosks.

Om

Hurtige fakta: White powdery sand imported from Caribbean beaches mixes with crushed shells to create an almost blinding brightness on sunny days. A shallow sandy slope means the water stays waist-deep for nearly 100 meters out, making it one of the safest swimming spots along Sicily's northern coast.

Højdepunkter: At sunset, the old stone watchtower perched on the eastern rocks casts a long shadow across the water that locals call "the giant's finger." On calm weekdays you can spot sea turtles surfacing about 50 meters offshore, especially between June and August.

Insidertips

  • Walk past the main umbrellas toward the far eastern edge near the watchtower where the sand is softer and crowds thin out. Bring water shoes because scattered pebbles near the waterline can surprise your feet. For the best photos, climb the rocks behind the watchtower for a wide-angle view of the whole cove. Pack a picnic and arrive on a weekday if you want the beach nearly to yourself before 10 AM.
