Hurtige fakta: Her ligger en af verdens største naturlige havne, som i århundreder har været et knudepunkt for handel. De hvide sandstrande strækker sig næsten 30 kilometer, og vandet er så klart, at man kan se bunden på ti meters dybde.
Højdepunkter: Tæt på kystlinjen ligger ruinerne af gamle handelsbyer fra den egyptiske og romerske periode, som sandet gentagne gange gennem århundrederne har slugt og igen blotlagt. Lokale fiskere finder af og til antikke mønter og skår af lerkar i sandet, som fortæller historien om havnens fjerne betydning på handelsruterne i Det Indiske Ocean.

- In the morning you will meet local fishermen at the beach bargaining over their catch, the most interesting conversations start there.
