Nopeat faktat: The community has prayed without interruption since 714, making this the oldest continuously active women's convent in the German-speaking world. Some 30 nuns still live behind these walls, and their plainsong rings through the church each morning.
Kohokohdat: A secret passage once carried the abbess up to the fortress while 1525 peasant rebels stormed the gates below. The same steep steps and iron gate where Maria von Trapp hesitated before returning to the Captain are still there to climb today.
