Nopeat faktat: The 126-meter red steel tube funnels about 6,000 pedestrians and cyclists across the river daily. Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava shaped its spiral frame so heat and glass panels keep the deck largely snow-free through prairie winters.
Kohokohdat: At night the bridge glows a warm red from within, and the white spiral ribs flash light and shadow across the deck as snow falls. Every steel tube was custom-bent in Spain, shipped across the ocean in pieces, then slotted together on site so the finished shell reads as one seamless, candy-wrapped twist.
