Nopeat faktat: Over 10,000 shops are packed under its colorful vaulted ceilings, making it one of the largest and oldest marketplaces in the Middle East. Each day, roughly 500,000 visitors and locals weave through its interconnected alleys, some of which date back over 400 years.
Kohokohdat: Wander into the carpet section and you'll smell aged wool and silk before you see the piles of hand-knotted treasures stacked floor to ceiling. Sellers will roll out a 50-year-old Qashqai tribal carpet for you, pour a little glass of tea, and tell you the story woven into its pattern.

- Keep your phone or camera ready near the gold and jewelry section: the light filtering through stained glass skylights makes incredible photos.
- Skip the tourist-geared shops near the main entrance and walk 10 minutes deeper into the bazaar for better prices.
- Dress modestly with long sleeves and comfortable walking shoes, as the alleys are crowded and you'll be on your feet for hours.
