Wander through an 18th-century sugar plantation where history speaks from every stone. You will walk through hidden chambers and enjoy breathtaking views from the mountain.

Kohokohdat: Alkuperäinen puukatto on kestänyt hurrikaaneja yli 250 vuotta ainutlaatuisen naulattoman liitostekniikan ansiosta. Yläparvekkeen näköala kattaa Cockpit-vuoret ja Atlantin valtameren 360 asteen panoraamana, joka vie hengen.

The only place where you can swim through living stars beneath the water's surface. You will see yourself surrounded by magical blue light with every movement of your body.

Nopeat faktat: The lagoon glows at night thanks to billions of bioluminescent organisms called dinoflagellates. When the water is disturbed, these microorganisms emit blue-green light, creating a magical effect around your body.

Kohokohdat: There are only four such bioluminescent lagoons in the world, but this one in Jamaica has the strongest glow thanks to the unique mixture of salt seawater and fresh river water. When you swim at night and move your arms, specks of light like blue sparks envelop you completely, as if swimming in a starry sky.

Nopeat faktat: St. Peter's Anglican Church in Falmouth was built in the early 19th century and is one of the oldest buildings in town. Its thick walls of coral rock were built by slaves and their thickness reaches up to 1.2 meters, keeping the interior cool even in the greatest heat.

Kohokohdat: Inside the church you will find a communion table carved entirely from Jamaican walnut wood, brought from England in 1842. What makes it truly special is that the organists still use the original hand organ from 1850, which fills the space with sounds that have echoed there for nearly two centuries.

TuristinähtävyysKiinnostava paikkaPaikka

A historic site where rainwater was stored for 18th-century ships. Walk on stone slabs and imagine sea merchants loading barrels of water near the port.

Nopeat faktat: Falmouthin sadevesiallas rakennettiin 1700-luvulla keräämään sadevettä. Noin 200 000 gallonaa vettä mahtui tähän suureen kalkkikivialtaaseen, joka toimitti vettä sataman kautta kulkeville kauppalaivoille.

Kohokohdat: Torin keskellä sijaitsee valtava kalkkikiviallas, joka ennen täyttyi sadevedellä, tarpeeksi jokaiselle Falmouthiin ankkuroituvalle laivalle. Rankkasateiden aikana voi yhä kuulla veden roiskuvan muinaisia kiviä vasten luoden äänen kuin maanalaisen suihkulähteen.

The weather was perfect in February but the cruise ship crowds were insane. Get out of the port area fast if you want the real Jamaica.

Honestly a bit underwhelmed. Beach was nice but vendors were super pushy. Felt like I couldn't relax for five minutes without someone trying to sell me something.

If you're booking a villa, get one with a cook. Best decision we made. Homemade ackee and saltfish every morning for less than a restaurant breakfast.

Wish we had stayed longer than 3 days. Falmouth has a raw charm that grows on you. The jerk chicken from the roadside stands is unreal.

Skip the expensive resort excursions. Just hire a local driver for the day. We paid $60 total and got a private tour of the countryside and waterfalls. Way better value.
