Nopeat faktat: Kallionkielekkeellä sataman yläpuolella sijaitseva linnoitus on vartioinut Muscatin satamaa ainakin 1500-luvulta lähtien. Sen kaksoislinnoitus Al Jalali sijaitsee suoraan lahden toisella puolella, ja yhdessä ne aikanaan sulkivat sataman sisäänkäynnin ketjulla hallitakseen pääsyä.
