Today you'll find over 30 independent traders selling everything from vinyl records and vintage clothing to artisan coffee and handmade crafts.
Kohokohdat: Architect Cuthbert Brodrick designed the oval floor plan so that every single stall could be seen from the central vantage point, a radical idea for a 19th-century market. Look up and you'll notice the roof ribs fan out like the skeleton of a giant whale, with no central columns blocking your view of the whole space.
