Avoid buying tickets at the last minute: book online in advance, ideally 2-3 days ahead, because in the season they sell out by midday.
Save the Marienbrücke for the very end. The view of the castle from there is legendary, but during lunch there is a two-hour line.
Instead of taking the bus from the village to the castle, walk the 25-minute forest path, which reveals beautiful views without the crowds.
Bring a windbreaker even in summer. Inside the castle it is pleasantly cool, and on the bridge a sharp wind blows from the valley.
