Γρήγορα στοιχεία: More than 3,000 fish from over 200 species drift through the tanks, many of them caught in the cold Atlantic just offshore. A single 360-degree tunnel loops through the biggest tank, letting swirling shoals and slow-moving sharks stream past on every side.

Αξιοσημείωτα: A full whale skeleton hangs above a replica whaling ship, each rib arching taller than a standing adult and throwing long shadows across the wooden deck. Beside the ship sit a cracked harpoon and coils of frayed rope, relics of the open-boat hunts that generations of local sailors risked their lives to carry out.

• Time your visit for the scheduled shark and ray feedings, posted at the entrance, when the tunnel turns electric.
• The tunnel is quietest in the first hour after opening, so start there and circle back for the smaller tanks.
• Ask at the front desk about the supervised touch pools, where kids can gently meet starfish and rays.
• Skip the gift shop if you're short on time, the whale skeleton upstairs is the payoff you came for.
