Gyors tények: The 1,100-hectare park is home to over 2,000 free-roaming fallow and red deer, some of which will eat straight from your hand if you bring unsalted nuts. Its elegant 18th-century hunting lodge, Hermitage Palace, sits atop a ridge with panoramic views across the Øresund Strait to Sweden.

• Pack unsalted nuts or apple slices to hand-feed the deer near the main parking lot, but avoid bread or processed food which harms their digestion.
• Skip the paved main path and follow the red-marked 'Hermitage Route', a 7 km loop that climbs to the lodge for the best panoramic views.
• Wear waterproof boots if visiting after rain, the clay trails turn slippery and your sneakers will get caked in heavy mud.
• Bring binoculars in September and October to watch the rut from a safe distance without disturbing the animals.
