Gyors tények: Nearly 13 million pilgrims and travelers arrive each year at the 2,080 steps that ascend among centuries-old cedars. The original complex had more than fifty buildings, of which around forty are preserved today, many considered national treasures.
Főbb látnivalók: The three wise monkeys carved in the sacred stable, "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil," hide a fourth monkey carved on the reverse of the panel, almost invisible to the naked eye, representing the principle of "do no evil." It is said that whoever finds that fourth monkey completes a cycle of wisdom that few visitors manage to decipher.
