Gyors tények: Surviving since the 11th century, three of these ancient bathhouses still stand in their original form under later Christian buildings. The star-shaped skylights once let in natural light while steam rose through the same openings, creating a dreamy atmosphere for bathers.

• Stand directly below a skylight and look up: the star patterns are most vivid from that exact angle.
• Arrive when doors open at 10 AM to have the main chamber nearly to yourself for the first 15 minutes.
• Skip the audio guide and read the wall panels instead: the space is small enough that audio feels overkill.
