Quick facts: Over 40,000 political prisoners were held here during the Vietnam War. The prison is sometimes referred to as "hell on earth" because of its extreme detention conditions.
Highlights: Hidden cells with tiny windows still show the original dungeons from the war period. The woven bamboo mats on the walls were made by prisoners to protect against the scorching heat.
