About

Quick facts: The beach is visited by over 2 million people annually, and sharks are occasionally spotted in the water, which is why there is an active safety patrol. To the west of the beach, there is a promenade about 6 kilometers long that offers a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.

Highlights: Every summer, a swimming competition is held across the bay, about 1 kilometer long, attracting over 500 swimmers. On the rock by the beach, there is a 3-meter-high shark sculpture, reminding of the important connection this place has with the ocean.

Insider tips

  • Bring sunscreen and a hat because of the strong sun during the day.
  • For the best photos visit the seaside walking trail.
  • Avoid weekends as the beach is most crowded on those days.
  • Try the local ice cream at the cafe next to the beach for a refreshment.
