Quick facts: The Student Jail is one of the oldest student prisons in Europe with punishment cells within the Heidelberg University building. Visitors can see original cells and instruments used for student discipline.
Highlights: Inside are authentic cells with carvings and graffiti left by students from the 18th and 19th centuries, depicting their offenses and humor. Especially interesting is the old bell mechanism used to call "prisoners" for disciplinary talks.
