Rýchle fakty: Na 156 metrov vysokom kopci Bunardžik stojí 11,5 metrová socha vojaka s puškou namierenou na východ. Plovdivčania ju láskavo volajú Aljoša, podľa hrdinu z ruskej piesne o sovietskom vojakovi.
Zaujímavosti: Každú jar sa pri úpätí sochy zídu tisíce Plovdivčanov na tradičné oslavy dňa oslobodenia, kde vietor roznáša vôňu líp a kvetov. V noci silné reflektory osvetlia sochu tak, že jej tieň siaha cez polovicu mesta.
