Rýchle fakty: The 233.5-meter span made it the first iron bridge to cross the Yellow River when it opened back in 1909. German engineers from a Bremen-based firm supplied the prefabricated steel, which arrived by camel caravan across 2,000-plus kilometers of harsh terrain.
Zaujímavosti: Look closely at the steel rivets and you will find a few still stamped with the original German foundry marks from the early 1900s. At dusk, the whole structure lights up in warm gold while the muddy Yellow River churns below, and the contrast between the iron skyline and the water's roiling brown makes for a totally different feel than daytime visits.
