O
Rýchle fakty: Múzeum sakrálneho umenia v Splite uchováva viac ako 400 liturgických predmetov zozbieraných z kostolov naprieč Dalmáciou, ktoré boli zničené alebo zrušené. Zbierka zahŕňa ozdobné gotické kalichy, renesančné relikviáre a bohato vyšívané rúcha pokrývajúce šesť storočí.
Zaujímavosti: Jedna galéria je venovaná výhradne jedinému strieborno-pozlátenému procesnému krížu z 15. storočia, ktorého zložité reliéfne panely rozprávajú príbeh Kristovho umučenia v miniatúre. Kríž prežil napoleonské rabovanie aj bombardovanie počas druhej svetovej vojny, dvakrát ukrytý v kamenných múroch františkánskeho kláštora.
Insiderské tipy
- The wooden choir stalls on the upper floor have carved misericords with hidden satirical faces: slide your hand underneath to feel the medieval humor.
- Photography is allowed without flash, but the low lighting means you'll want a steady hand or a phone with good low-light mode.
- Skip the audioguide if you're short on time, the wall placards in English give enough context for the highlights.
- Visit right after the 11:00 AM Sunday mass at the nearby cathedral, when the streets are quiet and the museum feels like your private collection.
