Rýchle fakty: Jeden z iba troch kostolov na svete postavených priamo nad hrobom apoštola. Týčiace sa novogotické veže ukrývajú relikvie svätého Tomáša, ktorý prišiel na indické pobrežie v roku 52 nášho letopočtu.
Zaujímavosti: Malý otvor pri oltári údajne označuje miesto, kde po mučeníckej smrti vsiakla krv svätého Tomáša do kameňa. Krypta pod ním obsahuje jeho pôvodný náhrobný kameň z 1. storočia s vyrytým krížom, ktorého sa veriaci dotýkajú už takmer 2 000 rokov.
