Rýchle fakty: Perched on a rocky cliff 200 meters above the Gulf of Castellammare, this sanctuary offers sweeping views of the coastline below. Its name comes from a local legend about a farmer who found a painted tile of the Madonna while plowing his fields in the 1500s.
Zaujímavosti: The sanctuary sits on a vertiginous cliff edge where the stone floor of the terrace seems to float over the sea, giving visitors the sensation of standing on the bow of a ship. Step inside during the September feast and you will find the entire town climbing the steep path by candlelight at midnight, carrying a heavy wooden statue of the Madonna through the darkness.
