Rýchle fakty: Vo vertikálnych stenách z pieskoviska sa chránia fosíly dinosaurov a skamenené drevo, a medzi nálezmi sú kúsky kostí staré viac ako 70 miliónov rokov. Dva kilometre dlhý zárez prerezuje suchý opadavý les, v ktorom žijú lemury, endemické ptáky a plazy, ktoré neexistujú nikde inde na planéte.
Zaujímavosti: Na dne kaňonu, kde sa po daždi zbierajú bazény tyrkysovej vody, môžete zaplávať v prírodnom bazéne pod stenami vysokými do 300 metrov. Paleontológovia tu našli celé hniezda fosilizovaných jaj dinosaurov, takže pri prechádzke pozeráte na tie isté sloje steny, cez ktoré vedci celé storočia hľadali sledi prehistórického života.

- Wear sturdy hiking boots and long clothing, as the ground is rocky and dry shrubs easily scratch the skin.
- Bring at least three liters of water per person and a hat, as there is almost no shade on the trails.
- Take photos early in the morning or before sunset, when the red sand takes on a golden color and long shadows appear.
- Check your fuel reserve and tire condition in advance, since the road to the canyon goes through sandy shallows and stream beds.
