Rýchle fakty: Púštny vzduch tu dokonale zachoval vyše 100 starovekých múmií, niektoré stále nosia svoje pôvodné bavlnené oblečenie a zapletené vlasy spred 1 000 rokov. Nejde o múmie zabalené v egyptskom štýle: sedia v polohe plodu s pritiahnutými kolenami a tvárou k východu slnka, ako diktovali ich kultúry Wari a Ica-Nazca.
Zaujímavosti: Uvidíte múmie s neporušenými dlhými čiernymi vlasmi, kožou natiahnutou cez kosti a odhalenými zubatými úsmevmi pod otvoreným nebom v bezstrešných hrobkách. Na rozdiel od múzejných exponátov za sklom si k týmto starovekým pozostatkom môžete priamo pristúpiť a vidieť starostlivo uložené hrobové predmety vedľa nich: keramické nádoby, obety jedla a tkané textílie, ktoré prežili tisícročie.

- Skip the midday visit from December to March when the sun is brutal and there's zero shade across the entire site.
