Sinaia is a small, generally safe mountain resort town popular with skiers and castle visitors. Violent crime is low, but tourists should watch for overpriced taxis from the airport, loose change tricks in shops, and unofficial ski/gondola touts. Foreigner-friendly with moderate English proficiency.

Spravodlivá cena taxíka (oficiálna, cez deň): 250 lei - 400 lei (47 € - 75 €). Use the official airport taxi rank or a booking app. Agree on the fare or confirm the meter before departing. Refuse unlicensed drivers approaching you inside the terminal who quote inflated flat rates.

Prepitné: Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. 5-10% at restaurants, round up for taxis and services.
Vstupný a servisný poplatok: Most restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill. Check your bill before paying; some places add it without clearly showing it. Ask for a menu with prices and confirm before ordering if prices seem unclear.
Always choose to be charged in RON and decline dynamic currency conversion when paying by card. Prefer ATMs attached to bank branches. Independent ATMs commonly charge high withdrawal fees; check the fee screen before confirming.
