Rýchle fakty: Z 8 kilometrov chodieb jaskyne Demänovská jaskyňa slobody je 2,1 kilometra sprístupnených verejnosti a vchod sa nachádza v 60 metrov hlbokej priepasti. Objavená bola v roku 1921 a odvtedy je jednou z najnavštevovanejších kvapľových jaskýň na Slovensku, ročne ju navštívi viac ako 200 000 turistov.
Zaujímavosti: Jednou z najúchvatnejších siení jaskyne je 45 metrov vysoká Katedrála, kde štíhle kvapľové stĺpy visiace zo stropu žiaria v svetle reflektorov, akoby boli vyrezané z drahokamov. Odraz krištáľovo čistých jazierok a stála teplota 16 °C vytvárajú takú výnimočnú mikroklímu, akú inde nenájdete.
Insiderské tipy
- Put on a thick sweater even in summer, as the cave is a constant 6-7 degrees throughout.
- Photography is permitted even without a tripod, but flash does not bring out many formations nicely, so try to take advantage of the natural colored lighting.
- The last daily tour is usually less crowded than the morning time slots.
- The parking lot in front of the cave is free, but in the tourist season it is worth arriving early for the spaces.
