Rýchle fakty: Každú nedeľu sa hlavné námestie s dláždením mení na najautentickejší farmársky trh Gran Canarie, kde farmári predávajú syr, mandle a med priamo zo svojich nákladných áut. Mesto je náboženským srdcom ostrova, domovom Baziliky Panny Márie Borovicovej, ktorá každý september priťahuje tisíce pútnikov na Fiesta del Pino.
Zaujímavosti: Prvú nedeľu v septembri miestni nesú 60-kilogramovú striebornú sochu Panny Márie ulicami lemovanými 300-ročnými kanárskymi domami, ich balkóny ozdobené ručne vyšívanými látkami. Borovicová socha v bazilike je vytesaná z jediného kusa dreva z pôvodného stromu, pri ktorom pastieri tvrdia, že sa Panna Mária zjavila v roku 1481.

- Climb the bell tower of the basilica for a rooftop view of the town and surrounding mountains, it costs just a couple of euros.
