Rýchle fakty: Pevnosť sa týči do výšky 20 metrov s múrmi z ubitej hliny a pokrýva približne 4 hektáre centrálnej Buchary. Po tom, čo ruské sily v roku 1920 bombardovali pevnosť, sa zachovalo len asi 20 percent pôvodných stavieb.

Zaujímavosti: Námestie Registan priamo pred pevnosťou kedysi hostilo každý piatok verejné popravy, pričom odsúdených väzňov hádzali z vyvýšenej bránovej rampy. Málo známy fakt: posledný emir ušiel cez tajný podzemný tunel, keď v roku 1920 Červená armáda prelomila múry, pričom zanechal svoj hárem a pokladnicu.
