• Dress respectfully for a place of worship, especially if visiting during services; a light scarf works well for warm days.
• Stand on the steps facing Praça da Matriz for the best full-façade photos, and move inside to the transept for stained-glass shots.
• Visit just after morning mass ends to capture quiet interiors and speak with staff for background on artworks; avoid Sunday services if you want to wander.
• Check opening hours ahead; the cathedral sometimes closes for private events or restorations and bell-tower access is not always available.
