- Wear sturdy shoes with grip: the rampart stairs and the old Dutch flagstone lanes become dangerously slippery after rain.
- For the best photo of the lighthouse, walk to the far southeastern corner of the wall where the cannon sits, framing the white tower against the deep blue sea.
