Don't miss the World War I trench experience in the back gallery, it's easy to walk past but incredibly atmospheric.
The vintage vehicles barn has a penny-farthing bicycle you can stand next to for a great photo.
Save the indoor schoolroom for last, the kids will be tired by then and can sit at the old desks for a proper rest.
Check the website before visiting, they run living history days with costumed interpreters that bring the exhibits to life.
