Hızlı bilgiler: Kısmen toprağa gömülü dev bir 40 metrelik sekstant, Uluğ Bey'in 1420'lerde yıldız konumlarını şaşırtıcı bir doğrulukla ölçmesini sağlamıştır. 1.018 yıldızdan oluşan yıldız kataloğu 200 yılı aşkın süre dünyanın en hassas kataloğu olarak kalmış ve İstanbul'dan Hindistan'a kadar gökbilimciler tarafından kullanılmıştır.
Öne çıkanlar: Gözlemevinin ana aleti, yamaçta bir hendeğe oyulmuş, mermerle kaplanmış ve hassas derecelerle işaretlenmiş devasa bir meridyen yayıydı.
