About

Quick facts: Here, over 2000 hectares of mangrove and swamp forests spread out, home to over 150 bird species. Kolapara is one of the few places in Bangladesh where you can encounter the rare mudskipper (Boleophthalmus pectinirostris), which splashes through the mud between tides.

Highlights: When the tide recedes, thousands of tiny footprints of mud crabs become exposed, creating a silver pattern across the entire mudflat. Local fishermen use a unique fishing technique here: they submerge bamboo baskets in the tidal zone and return to them in the early morning when the tide has receded again.
