Loved the local coffee shops. Cool to watch the sunrise over the Ijen crater but bring warm clothes. The smoke can get pretty bad midday so go early.
Honestly, the beaches were way quieter than I expected. Not super touristy which was nice. The local markets get lively in the evenings. Bring cash, card use limited.
Weather got pretty hot and sticky, not the best if you hate humidity. Traffic around town is minimal, so getting around is easy. Great place for a low-cost getaway overall.
If you're heading to Ijen crater, start your hike before 2am to avoid the crowds and catch the blue fire glow. It’s worth the early wake-up, trust me.
Loved the cultural shows, especially the traditional dance evenings. Food is tasty but sometimes a bit too oily for my taste. Perfect spot for 3-5 days to soak it all in.
