The iron-and-glass hall was designed by Giuseppe Mengoni, the architect of Milan's Galleria, and pairs a working daily market with a modern food hall that runs until late night.
Highlights: From the mezzanine railing you can watch butchers break down sides of beef below while your espresso cools, a two-level theater of food. The 19th-century cast-iron roof was prefabricated in foundry sections, delivered by rail, and riveted together on site like a giant metal puzzle.
