Brze činjenice: The lagoons are fed by meltwater from the two volcanoes and shimmer at over 4,100 meters above sea level. The color shifts from turquoise to deep blue as the light changes, while Andean flamingo species often feed at the water's edge.
Istaknuto: At eight in the morning the ice lies like fragile glass over the shallow water, and every step on the gravel sounds like a crunch in the total silence. A caracara often glides along the ridge while you have Miñiques' 5,910-meter peak right beside you.

- Take a spot at the viewpoint below the parking lot first, where the whole double lagoon and the volcanoes fit in one picture.
- Pack warm clothes and a hat in your backpack, the temperature can be below freezing even in the middle of summer.
- Go on a weekday and as early as possible, then you will have the lagoons almost to yourself before the group buses roll in around ten.
- Skip the line at the toilet at the entrance, use the facilities in Toconao before the trip instead.
