Athens is broadly safe for tourists, but pickpocketing and soft scams are common around the metro, Plaka, and Syntagma. Taxi and restaurant tricks are the most reported, so use the official airport rank and official taxi apps, and check your bill. Violent crime is low; watch your bags in crowded areas.

1. Overcharging airport to centre

2. Pickpocketing on metro and at sights

3. Friendly stranger distraction
