Petra Archaeological Park / Petra Visitor Centre
Najbolje vrijeme za posjetu
Early morning or late afternoon offers cooler light and far fewer crowds, especially March to May and September to November for milder temperatures.
Savjeti za budžet
Single-day foreign entry is around 50 JOD, with two- and three-day tickets slightly higher; the Jordan Pass covers Petra and can waive the visa when bought before arrival. No regular free days, so buy the Jordan Pass if staying multiple days and bring water and snacks to avoid on-site prices.

O atrakciji
Brze činjenice: A narrow gorge called the Siq stretches about 1.2 kilometers, its sandstone walls streaked in rose, coral and ochre that suddenly reveal a monumental carved façade at the end. Over 800 rock-cut tombs and carved facades scatter across the cliffs, evidence of a bustling trade crossroads that connected Arabia, Egypt and the Levant.
Istaknuto: Step into the Siq as dusk falls, where roughly 1,500 candles sometimes line the route, their flames turning the stone to molten rose and gold while shadows shift across carved columns. Bedouin guides often play the rababa, a raw single-stringed instrument, the notes bouncing off the canyon walls so clearly you can hear the wood vibrate against the rock.
Insajderski savjeti
- Wear sturdy closed shoes and sun protection; trails are rocky and shade is scarce.
- Arrive at or just after opening to see the Treasury in soft light and avoid large tour groups.
- Climb the steps to the Monastery and High Place of Sacrifice for panoramic views, allow extra time and carry plenty of water.
- Carry Jordanian dinars for vendors, agree prices for horses or guides in advance, and skip the short carriage ride through the Siq if you can walk.
