Brze činjenice: Oko 80 siročadi i povrijeđenih slonova živi i slobodno luta po imanju od 25 hektara na obali rijeke. Svako jutro oko 10 sati, krdo maršira ulicama do obližnje rijeke na svoje dvosatno kupanje, procesija koja privlači hiljade posjetitelja.
Istaknuto: Za razliku od zooloških vrtova gdje su životinje odvojene od ljudi ogradama, mahouti (njegovatelji) žive rame uz rame sa određenim slonovima 24 sata dnevno, formirajući veze koje traju decenijama. Jedan stariji mahout po imenu Somapala brine o istom slijepom slonu po imenu Tikiri već 35 godina, a ona prepoznaje njegove korake i glas odmah.
