Brze činjenice: Četiri starogrčka kipara svaki je uzeo jednu stranu spomenika, čineći to prijateljskim nadmetanjem uklesanim u kamenu. Građevina je bila visoka 45 metara, otprilike visina zgrade od 14 spratova, a njeno ime nam je dalo modernu riječ "mauzolej" za bilo koju veličanstvenu grobnicu.
Istaknuto: Spomenik je bio okrunjen ogromnom mramornom kočijom koju su vukla četiri konja, dovoljno velikom da osoba može stajati unutar kočije. Preživjeli skulpturirani lav, jedan od samo nekoliko preostalih dijelova, toliko je životan da gotovo možete vidjeti njegova rebra kako se pomiču dok diše.
