Brze činjenice: Proizvodnja vune je u antičko doba učinila ovaj grad izuzetno bogatim, a lokalne ovce su bile cijenjene zbog svoje tamno ljubičasto-crne vune. Ogroman zemljotres je sravnio grad u 7. vijeku, ostavljajući njegove ruševine zakopane pod 10 metara aluvijalnog nanosa.

Istaknuto: Za razliku od svojih blistavijih susjeda Hierapolisa i Laodiceje, ovo nalazište ostaje gotovo potpuno neiskopano, što znači da cijeli rimski grad leži uspavan ispod poljoprivrednih polja.
