Teave

Kiired faktid: See 18-kilomeetrine jõeäärne rada jälgib legendaarse Nibelungide saaga teed läbi terrassviinamarjaistanduste ja aprikoosiaedade. Rada ääristab üle 1000 aasta veinitegemise ajalugu, kusjuures eepose vihjed on peidetud külanimedesse nagu Emmersdorf ja Melk.

Esiletõstmised: Kõndite läbi külade, kus keskaja Nibelungenlied' jutustajad kunagi esinesid, ja kevadel täitub kogu org 90 000 õitseva aprikoosipuu lõhnaga. Rada läbib ka 900-aastast kindlustatud kirikut, mille krüptis väidetavalt hoitakse Nibelungide loo sõdalase luid.

Sisekujunduse nõuanded

  • Start at Emmersdorf before 9 AM to catch the morning mist lifting off the Danube and have the trail nearly to yourself.
  • Wear sturdy hiking shoes, the stone terraces get slippery after rain and some sections involve 200 stone steps carved into hillsides.
  • Stop at a Heuriger (wine tavern) around 4 PM when local winemakers open their doors for fresh young wine and cold platters.
  • Skip the busy Melk Abbey main hours and visit the trail section between Weissenkirchen and Dürnstein instead for the most dramatic cliffside views.
