Kiired faktid: Four centuries of sea spray and monsoon rain have left the coral-block walls of this abandoned Swahili town remarkably intact. A lone pillar tomb still rises 10 meters over the empty streets, marking the Friday Mosque whose mihrab keeps traces of 16th-century paint.
