Kiired faktid: Around 9,000 years ago, this settlement on the Danube's banks housed fish-eaters who carved haunting trapezoidal-foreheaded stone sculptures. The site's exceptionally preserved architecture reveals houses with precise trapezoidal floor plans and lime-plastered hearths arranged in a near-mathematical pattern.

Esiletõstmised: Look closely at the massive sandstone boulders carved with fish-like human faces: they are among Europe's oldest monumental sculptures, predating the pyramids by 4,000 years.
