Teave
Kiired faktid: Only 15 families call this UNESCO-listed village home year-round, sharing their streets with sheep and cattle. Each of the 45 hand-built log houses dates from the 19th century and follows construction methods unchanged for 500 years.
Esiletõstmised: Three original painted wooden altars survive inside the tiny 1870 bell tower, their floral motifs painted by a local shepherdess. Villagers still bake bread in communal stone ovens and hang hay to dry from the same carved wooden rails their great-grandparents used.
Sisekujunduse nõuanded
- Arrive before 10 a.m. to have the lanes almost to yourself before tour groups arrive.
- Bring cash: the village shop and the homemade-syrup stand at the far end don't accept cards.
- The best photo spot is from the wooden bench halfway up the hill behind house number 17.
- Skip the paid parking lot at the entrance and use the free one 300 meters down the road.
