Opera House
Meilleur moment pour visiter
Late afternoon before an evening performance, when the glass facade catches the golden hour light and the square is quietest for photos.
Conseils budget
Ticket prices range from 3,000 to 15,000 AMD (about $8-$40) depending on seat location and performance. Students and children often get 50% discounts, and standing-room tickets can be bought for as little as 1,000 AMD on the day of the show.

À propos
Faits rapides: The building's angular roof and glass facade were designed to evoke the silhouette of Mount Ararat, Armenia's national symbol. Each of the 1,200 seats in the main hall is arranged so the stage remains visible from any angle, a clever feat of Soviet-era engineering.
Points forts: On certain evenings, the glass walls transform the lobby into a giant lantern glowing amber across the square, visible from blocks away. Locals know to arrive 20 minutes early just to watch the sunset light bounce through the geometric panels and scatter rainbow patterns across the marble floor.
Conseils d'initiés
- The balcony seats in the third tier offer the best view of both the stage and the geometric ceiling patterns.
- Photography is allowed in the lobby and grand staircase but strictly prohibited during performances.
- Visit on a Tuesday or Thursday evening when the square hosts fewer tour groups and the courtyard feels almost private.
- Wear comfortable shoes as the grand staircase has over 100 steps, and there is no elevator to the upper balconies.
